Adapted by Elizabeth Dook • Directed by Lexi Hubb Performed by Local Actors The best loved of Charles Dickens’ books, “A Christmas Carol”, was first published as a novella the week before Christmas in 1843. It was an instant sensation, selling out before New Year’s Eve the same year. Many further editions were published and the tale was so popular that Dickens created a pared down version for his public readings in 1853.
